Patient Information
Important information regarding your consultation at Retina & Eye Consultants.
What to expect when you visit Retina & Eye Consultants
We advise that you do NOT drive yourself home from your appointment as your pupils will be dilated. This results in some glare sensitivity and your vision will be blurred for 3-4 hours.
Please allow 2-3 hours at the practice for your initial consultation.
After checking in at reception, our highly trained orthoptists will take an ophthalmic history, check your vision and the pressure in your eyes and dilate your pupils, so that your retina can be examined. Once your pupils are dilated, the orthoptist will image and photograph your retina.
Your ophthalmologist will review your history and thoroughly examine your eyes. Based on this assessment, additional diagnostic testing and ocular imaging may be needed, which will usually be performed at this visit.
After reviewing all examination and imaging results, your ophthalmologist will plan treatment and discuss your management with you.
When appropriate, we try and begin treatment on the same day.
Payment for Consultation
Patients are required to pay for their Consultation at the time of visit. Payment can be made by EFTPOS, Visa & Mastercard, Cheque or Cash.
Our reception staff will process an online Medicare claim on your behalf which expedites your Medicare refund.
